How to Study for AI-901: A 14-Day Azure AI Fundamentals Study Plan
A day-by-day, 14-day study plan to pass AI-901 (Azure AI Fundamentals) in two weeks, plus the active-recall habits that make it stick.

You don't need a month to pass AI-901. With a focused plan and consistent practice, two weeks of about 45–60 minutes a day is plenty for most people to pass Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals. Here's a day-by-day schedule that front-loads concepts and finishes with mock exams — plus the study habits that make it stick.

Before you start
- Skim the official AI-901 skills outline so you know the destination.
- Set a target exam date — a deadline is the single best motivator.
- Pick one primary resource plus a question bank for active recall. Don't collect ten courses.
Week 1 — concepts & responsible AI
- Day 1: AI concepts and terminology — models, prompts, tokens.
- Day 2: AI workloads (1.3) — generative, vision, speech, language, extraction.
- Day 3: Responsible AI (1.1) — the six principles and an example of each.
- Day 4: Model components and configuration (1.2) — temperature, grounding, RAG.
- Day 5: A Domain 1 practice set; review every explanation.
- Day 6: Intro to Microsoft Foundry — the model catalog and build flow.
- Day 7: Light review of your notes. Rest matters.
Week 2 — Foundry & mock exams
- Day 8: Generative AI apps and agents (2.1).
- Day 9: Text and speech solutions (2.2).
- Day 10: Computer vision and image generation (2.3).
- Day 11: Information extraction (2.4).
- Day 12: Your first full, timed mock exam.
- Day 13: Review weak objectives from the mock — target your lowest scores.
- Day 14: A final mock to confirm you're over 700, then book the exam.
Three habits that do the heavy lifting
- Active recall over re-reading. Answering a question you might get wrong teaches far more than re-reading a page you already understand.
- Spaced repetition. Short daily sessions beat one weekend cram — your brain consolidates between sessions.
- Review the explanation, not the score. Every missed question is a gap you just found. Read why the right answer is right and why the others are wrong.
How do you know you're ready?
Simple rule: when you're consistently scoring 80%+ on timed mock exams across both domains, you're ready. The 10-point buffer above the 700 pass mark absorbs exam-day nerves.

Reading about the objectives gets you maybe halfway. The concepts only stick once you answer real questions, get one wrong, read why, and try again. That feedback loop is what actually moves your score on exam day.
This plan runs on practice questions — so it costs you nothing to start today. On ExamStudyApp you can run a free AI-901 practice session right now — no account and no credit card required. You'll see Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals questions one at a time with a full explanation after every answer, so each question doubles as a mini lesson.
When you're ready to go all in, the Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals (AI-901) practice tests give you unlimited adaptive practice plus timed, full-length mock exams that mirror the real scoring — including a per-objective breakdown so you know exactly what to review before you book the exam.
